ePostcard #68
Brass Knuckle Bob

The “World Famous” Sultana Bar in Williams, Arizona has seen its fair share of tough characters. Opened in 1912 on what would later become Route 66, the saloon is a longtime favorite of local cowboys and rambling travelers. Even with the inherent bravado of the mixed crowd, there is rarely trouble. The bar is a melting pot, fueled by draft beer and mixed drinks.

Despite the usual calm, the blending of that much testosterone and alcohol is bound to stir things up from time to time. Bar brawls have been caused by everything from drunken arguments over a woman to a song played on the jukebox. It’s hard to know what’s going to set someone off, especially through the inconsistency of inebriation.

Illegal to possess in ten states, the sight of brass knuckles should be enough to make even the drunkest brawler think twice about picking a fight. However, a patron of the Sultana is undeterred, intent on taking Brass Knuckle Bob down a notch or two. While the hulking drunk tries to stare him down, Bob smiles knowing the comical aftermath that awaits.

Brass Knuckle Bob is part of a series of plush Concealed Weapons designed by Los Angeles artist Michelle Valigura. She chose to follow up Bob with something a little more destructive.

Gary Grenade

The mustached Gary Grenade is styled after an iconic “pineapple” hand grenade from World War II. A film crew from XLR8R magazine came along on a recent shoot to see the magic behind capturing Gary in action. Video of the shoot and an interview that followed are premiering online today at XLR8R TV.

Hope you enjoy,
Brian
